RA model developed in NHP may be highly demanded for the development of novel anti-arthritic compounds when using most modern drug technologies because of the close phylogenesis that provides the cross-reactivity between human and NHP.
We have established a RA model induced with type II collagen in Cynomolgus monkeys. We demonstrated that the model is in response to anti-human IL-6 monoclonal antibody, anti-human-interleukin 6 receptor monoclonal antibody treatment as well as to new test articles from our collaborators.
This model provides a valuable tool for study of human RA disease in pathogenesis, biomarkers, translational research, and most importantly for the development of novel anti-arthritic therapeutic strategy.
