The metronome, from ancient Greek métron, meaning I measure, and némo, meaning I lead, is a device used by all musicians around the globe. It repetitively produces a sound, usually a click or a beep, at fixed time intervals to help musicians stay in tempo. In other words, to play at a regular pulse. At PharmaLegacy, we like to believe that metronomes and cardiac pacemakers are cousins of some sort. They both keep the beat going. They both make sure that the musician (or the heart in the case of the pacemaker) are in tempo.
