Case Study - λ-Carrageenan-induced inflammatory pain model in mouse & Endpoint Measurements

The λ-carrageenan-induced inflammatory pain model is a well-established and widely used acute inflammation model for evaluating analgesic and anti-inflammatory therapies. Local administration of λ-carrageenan produces rapid and reproducible inflammatory responses characterized by paw edema, mechanical hypersensitivity, and activation of inflammatory mediators, closely reflecting key features of acute inflammatory pain.

PharmaLegacy has established a robust λ-carrageenan model with comprehensive assessment of both pain-related and inflammatory endpoints. Mechanical hypersensitivity is routinely evaluated using von Frey testing, while paw edema is quantified through toe volume measurements, providing sensitive and complementary indicators of inflammation severity and therapeutic efficacy.

The pharmacological validity of the model has been confirmed using dexamethasone, a clinically established anti-inflammatory agent, which significantly attenuates carrageenan-induced edema and mechanical hypersensitivity. These results demonstrate the suitability of the model for evaluating anti-inflammatory compounds, analgesics, biologics, and novel therapeutic modalities.

In addition to behavioral assessments, the model can be integrated with biomarker analysis, histopathology, and cytokine profiling to investigate inflammatory mechanisms and treatment responses. Case Study - Complete Freud’s adjuvant (CFA) induced inflammatory pain model in mouse & Endpoint Measurements

The Complete Freund’s Adjuvant (CFA)-induced pain model is a well-established and widely used model of persistent inflammatory pain. Intraplantar injection of CFA produces robust local inflammation characterized by mechanical allodynia, thermal hypersensitivity, paw swelling, and sustained activation of inflammatory pathways, closely resembling chronic inflammatory pain conditions observed in patients.

PharmaLegacy has established a reliable CFA model with comprehensive behavioral assessment capabilities, including von Frey testing for mechanical hypersensitivity and Hargreaves testing for thermal sensitivity.
