MODELS / SERVICES
Case Study - Pentylenetetrazole (PTZ)-induced seizure model in mouse & Endpoint Measurements
Building on our core electrophysiology platform, we offer specialized services using the pentylenetetrazol (PTZ) rodent model to assess seizure liability and evaluate novel anti-epileptic drugs. PTZ is a non-competitive antagonist of the GABAA receptor that disrupts inhibitory neurotransmission, leading to neuronal hyperexcitability and seizures. Our platform supports both acute and chronic (kindling) study designs, allowing for the assessment of immediate anticonvulsant effects as well as the mechanism of epileptogenesis via behavioral scoring and EEG recording. We employ start-of-art synchronized video-EEG systems for comprehensive seizure characterization. We provide quantitative analysis including Racine Scoring, seizure threshold determination, power spectrum analysis and burst spike detection.
EEG Recording & Behavioral Seizure Scoring
Case Study - Maximal electroshocking (MES)-induced generalized seizure model in mouse & Endpoint Measurements
Maximal electric shock (MES) seizure model is induced by generating alternating electric current stimulation with corneal or auricular electrodes. The MES model is especially sensitive to compounds that block voltage-gated sodium channels, making it an essential tool for profiling novel antiseizure medications and evaluating CNS safety liabilities. We deliver controlled high-intensity electrical stimulus at fix frequency to induce a maximal seizure response in freely moving mice The key quantitative endpoints include tonic hindlimb extension duration, limb jerking duration and righting reflex latency.

Case Study - Scn1A knockout genetic model of seizure in mouse & Endpoint Measurements
Mutation in the Scn1a gene, which encodes the pore-forming alpha subunit of the voltage-gated sodium channel Nav1.1, are the primary cause of Dravet syndrome (DS), a severe developmental and epileptic encephalopathy. Spontaneous electrographic seizure is observed with videotaping and continuous EEG recording. We deployed video-EEG monitoring system that captures seizure onsets and interictal epileptiform discharge in both time and frequency domain. In addition, we offer hyperthermia-induced seizure provocation and multi-site invasive electrophysiological recordings to dissect its circuit-level dysfunction.
