Case Study - Behavioral assessment battery for middle cerebral artery occlusion (MCAO) stroke models & Endpoint Measurements

PharmaLegacy offers a comprehensive behavioral assessment platform for evaluating functional outcomes in rodent models of ischemic stroke. Our battery combines neurological, motor, cognitive, and histopathological endpoints to provide a multidimensional assessment of stroke severity, recovery, and therapeutic efficacy.

The platform includes cerebral blood flow monitoring using Laser Speckle Contrast Imaging (LSCI), locomotor and exploratory behavior assessment by Open Field Test, gait and motor coordination analysis using CatWalk, and infarct volume evaluation by TTC and Nissl staining. Together, these endpoints enable robust characterization of ischemic injury and functional recovery following middle cerebral artery occlusion (MCAO), supporting both mechanism-of-action studies and preclinical development of novel stroke therapeutics.

Case Study - Photothrombotic stroke model in rodents & Endpoint Measurements

The photothrombotic stroke (PCI) model provides a highly reproducible and spatially controlled approach for inducing focal cerebral ischemia in rodents. By combining a photosensitive dye with targeted cortical illumination, localized vascular occlusion and ischemic injury can be generated with excellent consistency, making this model particularly suitable for mechanistic studies and therapeutic evaluation.

PharmaLegacy offers comprehensive characterization of PCI-induced pathology through histological, vascular, and immunohistochemical analyses. Representative endpoints include infarct visualization, cerebral microvascular integrity, endothelial cell marker analysis (CD31), blood-brain barrier disruption assessment using IgG extravasation, and neuroinflammatory responses within peri-infarct regions. This platform supports studies of ischemic injury, vascular remodeling, neuroprotection, and post-stroke recovery in preclinical CNS drug development.
