Post-op and visceral pain are both poorly understood, and although they are costly on the healthcare system as a whole, very little research has been made on their pathophysiological mechanisms. Certain studies estimate that between a quarter and half of the worldwide population has experienced visceral pain at least once in their lifetime[1]. A more thorough approach on the different etiologies of these types of pain might be the segway to developing new treatment methods.
